At Solmatix, delivering renewable energy solutions is only part of the story. The real impact comes when those projects create lasting value beyond infrastructure and that’s exactly what happened at Village Infants School.

Bringing Solar into the Classroom

While Team Solmatix successfully delivered a Solar PV installation at the school, we didn’t stop there. We also stepped into the classroom, spending time with pupils to help them understand:

  • What solar energy is

  • How it works

  • Why it matters for their future

Because the next generation will inherit the world we’re helping to shape, it’s vital they understand the role renewable energy will play in it.

Delivering Real Impact

Alongside the educational engagement, the system is already delivering strong environmental and financial benefits for the school:

  • 79.2kWp installed capacity

  • 62,000 kWh of clean energy generated annually

  • 23.9 tonnes of CO₂ saved each year

  • 93% of energy consumed on-site

Delivered on behalf of London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, the project supports wider sustainability targets while helping to reduce long-term energy costs across the education estate.

Beyond Infrastructure

For Solmatix, projects like this demonstrate the true potential of solar. It’s not just about panels and performance it’s about people.

By connecting young learners with the technology on their rooftop, solar becomes more than infrastructure. It becomes something tangible, something they can engage with, and something that inspires curiosity about the future of energy.

Shaping a More Sustainable Future

As schools, communities and local authorities continue to invest in renewable energy, there is a growing opportunity to combine sustainability with education.

At Village Infants School, that opportunity has already been realised creating not just a more energy-efficient building, but a more informed and inspired generation.
