IMPROVING HOMES AND BUSINESSES SINCE 2008
YOUR EXPERTS IN SOLAR PV SYSTEMS
Solar PV panels capture light energy from the sun and convert it into DC electricity. This then passes through an inverter to produce AC electricity (the usable kind). The resulting supply is used as your primary source of electricity and can be seamlessly supplemented by or fed back onto the national grid.
To ensure our customers get the best products and services we can design and install a range of different solar systems for your roof. Whether you want to be energy independent, save on your electricity bills, do your bit for the environment or satisfy building regulations on your new build home we have an option that will work for you.
All our solar options are perfectly compatible and ideal for combining with our other green technology products, such as heat pumps and battery storage units. We can design your system for grid-tied, off-grid or emergency back-up in the event of grid failure scenarios.

21st CENTURY SOLUTIONS
WE HAVE A RANGE OF OPTIONS:
Mono-crystalline
These silicon solar panels have the highest efficiency and are very space efficient, with a premium finish. Mono-crystalline panels are created from a single continuous crystal structure. A mono-crystalline panel can be identified from the solar cells which all appear as a single flat black colour. Ideal for roofs where space is at a premium.
Typical specifications: 18 – 22% efficiency. 280W – 360W power output, 1.7 m2, 25-year warranty as standard.
In-roof solar systems
In-roof solar systems go on the timber battens of a roof and the roof tiles fit around the system, unlike traditional PV systems which are mounted above the roof tiles. In-roof systems sit lower to the roofline for improved aesthetics and if they are installed on a new build you can save on building materials and installation times helping to reduce overall costs. In-roof systems work with all common tiles, slates and fixings. In-roof systems typically use mono-crystalline panels, and costs vary depending on budget and customer requirements.
HIGH-QUALITY, DISCREET INSTALLATIONS
NEED A MORE SUBTLE LOOK?
Solar tiles
These act as both the roof tile and the solar panel, and can be installed with both slate and concrete roof tiles. They are ideal for customers looking for a discreet solar system, as the low-profile system blends with the surrounding tiles for a glare-free. We can design a system tailored to suit our customers and their specific energy requirements, up to 98% of the roof area can be covered, maximising total output potential.
They are lightweight, adding only 5.8kg/m2, placing less load on the structure. Like traditional roof tiles and PV systems, there is minimal maintenance as the smooth tile surfaces just need water to stay clean. They are reliable and go through the same testing processes as traditional roof tiles and PV systems. Simply installed as part of the roof tiling process, reducing the amount spent on materials and labour. Our solar tile option is also planning friendly helping ease planning issues by meeting building regulations and addressing visual impact concerns.
Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV)
As solar power becomes more widespread, new ways of generating electricity from the Sun are being developed. Through innovative new manufacturing processes, photovoltaics can be married and combined with traditional building materials to create completely integrated solar solutions to the point you would not notice they are even there. At Solmatix we can design and install BIPV solutions for your project which can include PV glazing for windows, curtain walls and spandrel, PV skylights, PV canopies and carports, PV floors and PV ventilated roof and façade structures.
