There are two types of solar collectors; flat panels and evacuated tubes.
Solmatix only install flat panels because they provide the optimum
system in the UK and Ireland.
Evacuated tubes are commonly perceived as being more efficient than flat panels
but this is simply not true. In low irradiance conditions, evacuated tubes can
work slightly better, but the real issue is how much useable hot water is achieved
over the course of the year, not just Winter months.

The Department of Trade & Industry concluded from an independent study
(Ref: DTI/Pub URN 01/1292) that there was no significant difference
between the outputs of both systems.
The Solmatix flat panel provides a durable, robust solution which will achieve a
longer service life with reduced maintenance. In addition, the Solmatix flat panel
can be integrated into your roof in the same way as a roof window, something
that is not possible with an evacuated tube system.
